Rainbow Farm, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Following a successful grant application in
2008, CRY is working in partnership with The Rainbow Farm Trust to
build a family home. This home will accommodate 10 children who have
been abandoned, neglected or abused and for whom there is no
prospect of a return to family care or adoption. The Yellow House
will enable these children to live in “family type” homes with
dedicated carers. It will also provide a safe environment where the
children can mature and be prepared for independence.
This is part of a complex which eventually will care for 40 children
in four houses and also provide short term “camp” facilities for
over 400 deprived and needy children. Additionally farming and other
income generating projects will be developed using the 160 acres of
adjoining land to provide a degree of self-sufficiency for the
project.
CRY will be maintaining contact with the project and will, if
appropriate, be aiming to access funding for future capital
developments.
