New Nation School, Accra
New Nation School was started in 2004 by City
of God Church and provides good quality education for children
from every tribe and nation in an environment of faith, hope and
love. Over the past four years the school has grown from 34 to 400
children in three departments: nursery, primary and secondary.
In 2007, it became necessary to relocate the school to a new 11 acre
site where new classrooms and technology blocks could be built. In
2007 and 2008, CRY was able to access grants which enabled the
building of six classrooms, a science laboratory and a computer
laboratory.
Good quality education for young people in Africa is essential for
the building of a skilled manpower base, for the transformation of
the communities and Nations of Africa. Quality is often compromised
by overcrowded classrooms and inadequate/faulty philosophies of
education - a typical school in the area has an average class size
of 75 children. Resources are non-existent and physical abuse of
children is common, creating an environment of fear. New Nation
School has a maximum class size of 30 and is a loving and caring
environment where children can reach their potential.
